Description: 10mm Plossl Double X Illuminated Reticle Eyepiece

This reticle has a double cross hair that is also illuminated for use in dark skies. The double cross hair is useful when collimating Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes (SCT) and for visual guiding during astrophotography. When collimating a SCT using the star method, it is imperative that the alignment star remains centered in the eyepiece field. The double cross hair makes it easy to determine the position of the star and helps to ensure a perfect collimation.

When manually guiding during astrophotography, the guide star used for tracking must remain centered in the eyepiece to create pinpoint images of the stars in the photograph. It is easier for the astrophotographer to detect any drift with a double cross hair eyepiece because the eye uses both illumated lines to gauge the star position.

The reticle can be focused using the helical focuser built into the top of the eyepiece. This will make the reticle cross hairs appear sharp and crisp against the background stars. The illuminator has an adjustment for brightness. Just turn the on/off switch located on the end of the illuminator to adjust brightness. Uses 2 LR44 batteries, included. Fits 1.25" focusers.
